What’s in this article:

Introduction to agent capabilities

As an org admin or IT admin, you have granular control over the actions WRITER Agent can perform for your organization. The Capabilities page in AI Studio allow you to enable or disable specific high-level functions and define precise access rules for web-based activities. This ensures that the agent operates within your organization's security and compliance guidelines. To learn more about using WRITER Agent, click here.

Managing browser automation

Browser automation allows WRITER Agent to open a web browser in its secure sandbox environment. With this capability, the agent can perform tasks such as navigating to websites, reading page content, clicking on elements, and filling out forms. As an admin you have the ability to disable this feature for your organization or restrict browser automation functionality for a subset of websites.

Configuring URL Access for Browser Automation

You can restrict which websites the agent is allowed to interact with. This is useful for ensuring the agent only accesses approved internal or external sites.

Select Browser automation from the capabilities list to open its detailed settings.

Under Allow WRITER to use Browser automation for, choose one of the following options:

    • All websites: The agent can access any website.
    • Only specific websites: (Recommended) Restricts the agent to a specific list of URLs you provide. Add URLs to the Included websites list.
    • Exclude specific websites: Allows the agent to access any website except for those you add to the Excluded websites list.

Note on URL matching: When you add a domain (e.g., example.com  ), it automatically includes all subdomains (e.g., app.example.com  , support.example.com  ). Wildcard characters (*  ) are not supported.

Managing web search

Web search enables WRITER Agent to use a standard search engine to find information and images from the web. This is essential for tasks that require real-time information or external research. As an admin you can decide to allow WRITER Agent to search the entire web, just a subset of approved websites, or not at all. Similar to Browser automation, you can control the agent's web search scope to prevent it from accessing or surfacing content from certain websites.

Click on Web search from the capabilities list and use the toggle to enable or disable the entire function.

To allow WRITER Agent to access a subset of websites choose from the following options below Allow WRITER to use web search for:

    • All websites: The agent can search and access content from any website.
    • Only specific websites: The agent's search results will be limited to content from the URLs you provide in the Included websites list.
    • Exclude specific websites: The agent can search freely but will not access or show results from URLs you add to the Excluded websites list.

Note on URL matching: When you add a domain (e.g., example.com  ), it automatically includes all subdomains (e.g., app.example.com  , support.example.com  ). Wildcard characters (*  ) are not supported.

Managing website hosting

Website hosting allows WRITER Agent to temporarily host a deliverable, such as a generated web page or data visualization, by exposing a port from its secure sandbox environment. This creates a temporary, shareable URL for users to access the agent's output. This capability is a simple on/off toggle.

To enable or disable Website hosting navigate to Connectors & Tools > Capabilities. Select Website hosting in the list and use the toggle switch to enable or disable the feature.

Note: Access to these hosted deliverables is managed at the session level. By default, access is private unless specified otherwise during the agent's task.

Managing Connectors

In addition to these core capabilities, you can also manage how WRITER Agent interacts with your organization's tools and platforms through Connectors.
