In this article:
Configure a home page for a team
Anyone with admin privileges for a team can configure a home page layout for that team.
If you belong to multiple teams, select the team space you want to configure from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.
Click the Customize button in the top right corner.
Once you've selected Customize, a purple bar will appear at the top of your page, indicating whether you are in configuration mode.
You'll now be able to review the seven home page widgets, decide whether certain widgets should be displayed or hidden, and configure useful shortcuts for your team's specific needs.
Chat app widget
The chat app widget connects users directly to Ask Writer or a custom chat app.
If the selected team has any chat apps deployed in their Writer instance, you can select the down arrow next to the words Ask Writer to spotlight a different chat app instead.
You can also select Hide widget to remove the widget from your team's home page.
Shortcut widget
The shortcut widget highlights your team's most important apps. You can select the X next to any default shortcut to remove the shortcut from your team's home page.
Select the plus (+) icon to add a new shortcut to any app in your team library.
Shortcuts created by a team admin during the configuration process are pinned to the home page of every team member. Users can also create their own shortcuts outside of the configuration process, which are only displayed on their individual home page.
Recent work widget
The recent work widget contains a user's recent docs & sessions.
Select a doc or a session to jump back in and continue where you left off.
In the Docs tab, select + New doc to create a new doc or select All docs to open your entire doc history.
In the Sessions tab, select + New session to create a new session or select All sessions to view all your previous chat sessions.
Apps widget
The Apps widget contains a user's Favorited apps & any custom apps deployed to their team.
The Favorites tab contains any app marked as a Favorite by a user. The contents of this tab are exactly the same as the Favorites tab within the app library.
The Favorites tab is customized by an individual user. To add an app to the Favorites tab, select Open app library, find your desired app, and select the star next to its name. Favorites cannot be configured for an entire team. (Instead, create a shortcut for your entire team in the Shortcuts widget.)
The Custom tab displays any custom apps to which an individual has access. The contents of this tab are exactly the same as the Custom tab within the app library.
AI Studio widget
If a user has access to AI Studio, they'll be able to jump directly into the apps they were working on most recently, or select AI Studio to reach the home page.
Writer AI Academy widget
The Writer AI Academy widget highlights popular certifications & self-paced courses. Learn more about the Writer AI Academy here and view the Writer AI Academy here.
You can select Hide widget to hide the entire Writer AI Academy widget from your team home page.
Extensions widget
The Extensions widget directs users to install specific Writer extensions and plug-ins.
To feature the extensions and plug-ins which are most important for your team or hide any extensions not yet approved for use, select the Show and Hide buttons.
Select Hide widget to hide the entire extensions widget from your team home page.
Saving your configuration
Once you've completed your configuration of your team's home page, select Save changes. The purple bar will disappear as you leave configuration mode, and your team members will see your new home page configuration immediately.
