The Flesch-Kincaid grade level formula gives a numerical score which approximates the US grade level of education necessary to understand your content. The higher the score, the more difficult the content is to read. This type of grade level scoring emphasizes sentence length, rather than word length.
Writer also provides tool tips when hovering over the Flesch-Kincaid score:
