Guide to empowering teams with brand-aligned playbooks

In this guide: Learn how to "bake" your brand standards, voice, and unique marketing judgment directly into your AI workflows using WRITER's core ingredients.

Introduction

Scaling content creation across an organization often leads to a difficult trade-off between speed and quality. When anyone can generate content in seconds, marketing teams frequently inherit the tedious cleanup work of generic, low-quality AI outputs, often referred to as "AI slop".

Think of generic AI as a bland, pre-packaged meal. To serve up something truly spectacular, you need to step into the kitchen and make your team's marketing judgment executable.

In this guide, we'll show you how to build a scalable, brand-aligned AI system. By configuring custom Skills, Voice Profiles, and Connectors, you can automate multi-step content workflows that produce high-quality, publication-ready drafts requiring minimal editing.

The recipes you'll bake

  • Guest Interview Prep Playbook: A structured recipe that analyzes a guest's background and core themes to generate a tailored interview guide, saving the output directly to Google Docs.

  • Content Promotion Package Playbook: An automated post-production pipeline that turns raw transcripts or source documents into a complete promotional suite—including social posts, employee advocacy copy, and a recap blog post—and routes them to Slack and Google Docs.

The pantry: Your core ingredients

Before we start cooking, let's review the essential ingredients in your WRITER pantry:

Skills: Specialized, reusable toolkits that give WRITER Agent a defined capability—the how behind any task. Think of these as your kitchen utensils and prep techniques. Build skills first; they become the quality gates and formatting rules inside your playbooks.

Playbooks: Reusable, multi-step workflows that orchestrate  voice, connectors, and knowledge as well as skills into consistent, repeatable outcomes—the what your agent will do. These are your master recipes.

Voice Profiles: Custom-tuned personality profiles that define how your content sounds. This is your signature seasoning. You can create personal voices for specific hosts or executives, or brand voices for general marketing assets.

Connectors: Integrations that give WRITER Agent secure access to external platforms (e.g., Google Docs, Slack, Google Sheets, Jira, Salesforce). These are the waiters bringing food to the table, required for playbooks that read or write data outside WRITER.

Projects: Organizational containers in WRITER Agent that group related playbooks, skills, and triggers around a shared initiative or team workflow. Think of this as your designated kitchen station.

Recipe 1: The guest interview prep playbook

Prepare for high-profile interviews by combining deep research with precise brand alignment. This playbook automates the research process, stress-tests questions against a target executive persona, and writes the final prep guide directly to Google Docs.

Step-by-step

Prep Your "Brand Messaging" Skill:

Go to Manage WRITER Agent > Skills.

  • b. Click + Create Skill.

    c. Name the skill "[Your Brand] Messaging" (e.g., "WRITER Brand Messaging").

    d. In the instructions, define your core corporate messaging pillars, product line messaging, or persona messaging themes.

    e. Click Save and Publish.

  1. Prep Your "Target Persona Reviewer" Skill:

    a. Go to Manage WRITER Agent > Skills.

    b. Click + Create Skill.

    c. Name the skill "[Target Persona] Reviewer" (e.g., "Fortune 500 CMO Reviewer").

    d. In the instructions, describe the target persona (e.g., a high-level executive, technical buyer, or industry specialist) and upload a persona document or product marketing guide for context.

    e. Click Save and Publish.

  2. Mix a Custom Voice Profile:

    a. Go to Manage WRITER Agent > Personality.

    b. Click + New Voice.

    c. Name the voice (e.g., "[Host/Speaker] Personal Voice").

    d. Upload training materials, such as past interview transcripts or writing samples, to tune the voice profile.

    e. Click Generate Voice and then Publish.

  3. Bake the Playbook:

    a. Go to Playbooks and click + New Playbook.

    b. Name the playbook "[Your Publication] Interview Prep Playbook".

    c. Add a text input variable for the guest's background and another for the core interview themes.

    d. Add a generation step that uses your "[Your Brand] Messaging" skill to align the themes with corporate messaging.

    e. Add a refinement step that uses your "[Target Persona] Reviewer" skill to stress-test and refine the questions.

    f. Apply your custom Voice Profile to the generation step to ensure the script matches the host's natural speaking style.

    g. Add an integration step using the Google Docs connector to write the finalized interview guide directly to a shared Google Doc (requires Google Docs connector).

💡 Pro Tip: When building a personal voice profile for a host or executive, upload at least 3-5 clean transcripts. This helps the model capture natural speech patterns, verbal tics, and unique phrasing, making the final script sound authentic.

Prompt scaffold

Use this prompt inside your playbook's generation step to build the interview guide:

You are an expert podcast producer preparing an interview guide for our host.
Analyze the guest's background: [guest background] and the core themes: [interview themes].

Generate a structured interview guide that includes:
1. An executive summary of the guest's background for our host.
2. A full prep guide for the producer and host with 5-7 deep, engaging questions.
3. A concise version of the questions to share with the guest for their review.

Ensure all questions are aligned with our core corporate messaging using the /[Your Brand] Messaging skill, and stress-tested using the /[Target Persona] Reviewer skill to ensure they resonate with our target audience.

Recipe 2: The content promotion package playbook

Once an interview is recorded and transcribed, turn that raw transcript into a complete, multi-channel promotional suite. This playbook automatically generates episode descriptions, social posts, and employee advocacy copy in your brand voice, refines them using style checkers, and routes them to Google Docs and Slack.

Step-by-step

  1. Gather Your "AI-ism Detector" Skill:

    a. Go to Manage WRITER Agent > Skills.

    b. Click + Create Skill.

    c. Name the skill "AI-ism Detector".

    d. In the instructions, list common, repetitive AI writing patterns (e.g., overusing words like "delve," "testament," "revolutionary," or "moreover") and instruct the skill to eliminate them.

    e. Click Save and Publish.

  2. Bake the Playbook:

    a. Go to Playbooks and click + New Playbook.

    b. Name the playbook "[Your Publication] Content Promotion Package".

    c. Add a file input variable to upload the raw transcript or source document.

    d. Add a generation step to analyze the source file and extract key themes and quotes.

    e. Configure the step to use your consistent Brand Voice Profile to generate the content summary, social posts, and employee advocacy copy.

    f. Add a refinement step that runs the "AI-ism Detector" and "WRITER Style Checker" skills to ensure the copy is warm, friendly, and authentically human.

    g. Add an integration step using the Google Docs connector to write the recap blog post directly to a shared Google Doc (requires GOOGLE_DOCS connector).

    h. Add an integration step using the Slack connector to send the entire promotion package to your team's channel for review and approval (requires SLACK connector).

  3. Set a Kitchen Timer (Automate with a Routine):

    a. Inside your playbook, navigate to the Routines tab.

    b. Click + Create Routine.

    c. Choose Event-based to trigger the playbook automatically when a new transcript file is uploaded to a designated Google Drive folder (requires GOOGLE_DRIVE connector).

💡 Chef's Secret: Use the AI-ism Detector and your Style Checker skills as a mandatory "quality gate" at the end of your generation steps. This acts as a taste-test, ensuring that no content is sent to Slack or Google Docs without first being polished and stripped of generic AI writing patterns.

Prompt scaffold

Use this prompt inside your playbook's generation step to build the promotion package:

You are an expert content marketer. Analyze the uploaded transcript or source document: [source file].

Generate a complete promotional package in our exact brand voice:
1. **Content Summary**: A compelling 150-word summary of the content highlighting key takeaways.
2. **Social Posts**: 3 distinct posts for LinkedIn and Twitter, including engaging hooks and relevant hashtags.
3. **Employee Advocacy Copy**: A short message our team can share internally or on their personal channels to promote the content.
4. **Recap Blog Post**: A structured 800-word blog post summarizing the content, including key quotes and subheadings.

Run the entire output through the /AI-ism Detector and /WRITER Style Checker skills to eliminate repetitive AI patterns and ensure the copy is warm, friendly, and human-sounding.

Chef's secrets for success

  • Prep your ingredients first: Skills are your reusable building blocks. Create them first so you can easily embed them across multiple playbooks or individual chat sessions.

  • Bake quality gates into workflows: Always run your generated drafts through style checkers, compliance reviewers, or persona stress-testers before routing them to external tools.

  • Keep skills highly focused: Build specific skills for specific tasks (e.g., compliance review, formatting, or style checking) rather than one giant, catch-all skill. This makes them much easier to maintain and reuse.
