Privacy Policy update April 2026
Updates to Writer’s Privacy Policy
We recently updated our Privacy Policy and wanted to share some context around why we made this update, what’s changed, and when the new version of our Privacy Policy will go into effect.
We also wanted to highlight what has not changed: we will not use any data you share with us to train our models.
Why we’ve made these updates
We periodically review our terms and policies to reflect updates to our services and how we protect the information you share with us and wanted to take the opportunity both to clarify who our Privacy Policy applies to:
Our Privacy Policy applies when you are using our services as an individual and we are acting as a data controller (or similar role under data protection laws), such as when you access our websites or when you create an account with a personal email address.
Our Privacy Policy does not apply to you when we are acting as a data processor (or similar role under data protection laws) and processing personal information on behalf of a business account, in which case our Platform Services Agreement and Data Processing Agreement (or, if applicable, a separately executed agreement and/or data processing agreement between Writer and that customer) governs our processing of information about you.
What’s changed?
As mentioned above, we periodically review our terms and policies to make sure they are clear, easy to understand, and accurately reflect our services. We encourage you to read the updated version of our Privacy Policy, but here is a summary of the key changes:
- How we disclose your information when you use third-party services in our platform: we have clarified that when you use or enable features without our Platform that allow you to connect to, interface, integrate, or interact with, access and/or use compatible third-party services, products, and technology, these third-party services may be able to collect personal information about you and their privacy policies and/or other applicable data usage policies will govern how your information is processed by them.
- Data subject rights form: we have streamlined the process for how we intake data subject rights requests by creating a form that an individual can submit, after which we will respond to the request.
- Contact Information: we have updated our office address in San Francisco.
When will the new versions of the Privacy Policy become effective?
It will become effective on April 18, 2026.
Thanks again for using Writer - we appreciate you taking the time to read this update and look forward to continuing to give you the ability to build and create across our platform.
